Van trade plate delivery across the UK

If you want to know whether a van can go on trade plates at all, read can you move a van on trade plates. This guide is about booking one, so a van centre, LCV team or dealer group gets an accurate quote first time.

A van that will not start needs a transporter rather than trade plates.

Start with the registration and both postcodes, then add the body type in the notes: panel van, crew cab or tipper, and whether it is a high roof. Height and weight affect which roads the driver can use, so a car quote between the same two towns will not match the van price.

Fuel or charging is included, and a van uses a different amount from a car on the same route. Telling us the body type up front means your quote is right and the job goes ahead without a hitch.

We move stock between van centres, deliver sold LCVs to customers who need them for Monday's work, collect crew cabs from auction once released and take tippers back to the branch that sold them. We also bring long wheelbase vans from prep in the South East up to Scottish dealers who have already invoiced them.

Racking and ply lining can stay in and are photographed at collection, because on a van they are often the first thing checked. Loose tools, stillages and ladders on a roof bar need to be secured or removed before we arrive, and we will tell you which when we quote.

Our office is in Glasgow, but there is no need to bring the van to us. We collect from your yard, the auction compound or a returning customer, and deliver to the receiving branch or the buyer's door.

For longer runs in a high roof van, we ask for the height on the booking. Low structures and tight dealer yards need planning, and if the delivery point has a height barrier the van will not clear, we want to know before the driver arrives.

If several vans are heading the same way on a flexible date, a transporter may work out cheaper per vehicle. Any van needed urgently or going to a customer is still best driven. Compare the options in trade plate delivery versus a transporter.

Tradespeople buy vans to work, so they are often only home after hours, with a driveway that was never meant for a long wheelbase van. Add the delivery time, any parking constraints and the name of the person who can sign to your booking.

A van transfer between dealers still needs a duty manager at both ends so the delivery can be signed for. Proof works exactly as it does for a car, as explained in proof of collection and proof of delivery.

The van needs a valid MOT, must be drivable and needs keys at collection, enough fuel to reach the first filling station and authority for us to take it. If it is SORN, mention it in the notes.
