1. The service and the booking

OVM Ltd provides professional vehicle collection and delivery nationwide. Not Northern Ireland. Vehicles are driven by our drivers under trade plates; we do not move vehicles on a transporter.

All bookings are subject to driver availability and route feasibility. A booking is confirmed when we confirm it, not when it is requested. Where a movement depends on a third party releasing the vehicle, whether an auction compound, a storage site or a dealership, the booking is also subject to that release being authorised.

Quotations are given for the specific movement described to us. If what is actually presented differs materially from what was quoted, whether a different vehicle, a different address, or a handover that turns out to be a retail delivery, we will requote before proceeding rather than adjust the invoice afterwards.

2. Vehicle requirements

Every vehicle presented for movement must be roadworthy, legal for use on the public highway and ready to drive. That means taxed, holding a valid MOT where one is required, mechanically fit for the journey and carrying adequate fuel or charge to reach the first refuelling or charging point.

OVM reserves the right to refuse collection of any vehicle our driver judges to be unsafe, not roadworthy or not legal for the road. This is not discretionary on our part: driving such a vehicle would invalidate the cover the movement depends on.

Keys and any documentation intended to travel with the vehicle must be available at the collection point to the named contact given at booking.

3. Liability and insurance

OVM carries motor trade road risk cover for the vehicle while it is driven under our trade plates.

Our liability is limited to loss or damage directly caused by our driver during the movement. Pre-existing damage is not our liability and is recorded photographically before the vehicle moves.

Before every movement the driver captures a proof of condition: photographs of each panel, the mileage reading and notes on the vehicle's condition. This record establishes the vehicle's condition at the point responsibility passes to us and is the reference against which any claim is assessed.

We are not liable for items left inside the vehicle, for delays arising from third parties, traffic, weather or vehicle failure, or for consequential losses arising from a delayed or unfulfilled movement.

4. Claims

Any claim for damage occurring during a movement must be submitted within 48 hours of delivery, with supporting photographs.

The 48-hour window is a condition of the evidence being assessable: once a vehicle has been in a third party's possession for longer than that, its condition can no longer be reliably compared with the record captured at delivery.

Claims are assessed against the proof of condition captured at collection and the proof of delivery captured at handover. They are handled through our insurer.

5. Cancellation

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the agreed collection time may incur a fee.

Where a driver has already been dispatched, or has arrived and been unable to collect for reasons outside our control, meaning no access, no keys, no release authority, or a vehicle that is not roadworthy, the full fee may apply.

If we are unable to fulfil a confirmed movement, we will tell you as soon as we know and reschedule at no additional charge.

6. Payment

Standard payment terms are 30 days from the date of invoice. Trade accounts may agree alternative arrangements in writing in advance.

Interest and costs may be charged on overdue amounts in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. They are subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

Questions

Common questions

Prefer to speak to someone? Call the team.

What happens if the vehicle is not roadworthy?

OVM reserves the right to refuse collection of any vehicle deemed unsafe or not roadworthy. Every movement is driven, so a vehicle that is not legal for the road cannot be moved on trade plates at all.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations less than 24 hours before the agreed collection may incur a fee. If a driver has already been dispatched, or arrives and cannot collect for reasons outside our control, the full fee may apply.

How do I make a claim?

Submit it within 48 hours of delivery with supporting photographs. The proof of condition captured before the vehicle moved establishes the baseline the claim is assessed against.

What are the payment terms?

Standard terms are 30 days from the invoice date. Trade accounts can agree alternative arrangements with us in advance.

Ring the office before you book. It is a great deal easier to answer a question now than to resolve it afterwards.
