  • Our own software

Every job is booked, tracked and closed in software we built for the motor trade.

  • Always driven

Moved under trade plates by a driver, never loaded onto a transporter.

  • Fully insured

Motor trade road risk cover while the vehicle is driven on our plates.

  • Proof on every job

Digital proof of collection and delivery, emailed when the vehicle is handed over.

Height, weight and fuel all affect the quote, because a high roof van cannot use every route a car can. Racking stays in and is photographed, while loose loads need securing or removing. If the van cannot legally be driven, we will recommend a transporter.

Enter the registration and both postcodes on the quote form and tell us it is a van. You do not need an account. OVM Ltd, 48 West George Street, Glasgow G2 1BP. Telephone 0141 459 1302.

How van transport works

Height and weight checked first

Vans are not just big cars. We check the height and gross weight against the route and the delivery point before dispatch, because a low bridge, a height barrier or a tight yard can turn a simple job into a wasted trip.

Racking, ply lining and loads

Internal racking and ply lining are photographed as part of the condition record, and any loose equipment in the load area is noted before we set off. Damage inside a van matters as much as a mark on the paintwork, and it is much harder to settle without photographs.

MOT and roadworthiness

The van needs a valid MOT and must be legal to drive. If it is plated or its MOT is about to run out, we raise it before collection rather than at the gate. If it cannot legally be driven, a transporter is the better option.

The process

How a job runs

From the quote to the proof of delivery, every step is booked and tracked in our own system.

  1. Send the details

Give us the registration, both postcodes and your dates, and your price appears straight away.

  2. We book it in

We confirm the release details, plan the route and arrange contacts at both ends.

  3. Driver collects

Our driver records proof of collection before the vehicle moves, then drives it on our trade plates, fully insured.

  4. Proof of delivery

The receiver signs on handover and the full proof of collection and delivery report arrives by email.

What is van transport for the motor trade?

It is a roadworthy van driven from one address to another on trade plates by one of our drivers, who collects it, drives it and hands it over. We do this across Scotland, England and Wales for panel vans, tippers and crew cabs, with no transporter involved.

Can you move a van on trade plates?

Yes, as long as it is legal to drive with a valid MOT. Height, weight and fuel are part of the quote, and we will recommend a transporter if it cannot legally be driven.

Does a high roof van change the job?

It can, because its height may rule out a route a car would take. We quote for the van you have rather than treating it as a large car.

Can it have racking in it?

Yes. Racking and ply lining are photographed as part of the condition record, but loose loads must be secured or removed before collection.

How do I get a quote?

Use the instant quote online or call 0141 459 1302. Tell us the registration, both postcodes, your dates and that it is a van, and we can price it.

What do you need to quote a job?

Just the registration, the collection and delivery postcodes and roughly when it needs to move. Named contacts at both ends help us avoid a wasted trip, and the price shows on screen straight away.

What does the price depend on?

It depends on the vehicle, the distance, how soon you need it moved and what has to happen at each end. A dealer to dealer transfer prices differently from a retail handover with paperwork to complete, so we quote every job individually rather than from a rate card.

Is the vehicle insured while you have it?

Yes. Every vehicle we move is covered by motor trade road risk insurance from the moment we collect it until it is signed for.

What proof do I get that the job was done properly?

You get photographs of every panel, the mileage reading, condition notes and a signature. Proof of collection and proof of delivery arrive together as one report by email when the vehicle is handed over.

Can you move a vehicle that is not roadworthy?

No. Every job is driven, so the vehicle has to be roadworthy, taxed and legal for the road. If it is not, a transporter is the better option and we will tell you so before anyone is sent.
