Auction gate

Name the collector before the driver sits in the lane

The compound will not release a lot to a stranger at the barrier. Buying it is not naming who is collecting. OVM has to be the named collector, with identification and plates, before a driver is sent. If you name nobody, the driver waits in the lane and storage keeps running. The name on the gate is not the code

A release code says the lot can leave. A named collector says who is allowed to take it. The gate checks both. Mix them up and you get a man in the lane arguing with a list he is not on.

This post is the name. The code has its own page. Do not retell that here. If you have not got the release, stop and read auction collection after release and tick the auction collection checklist before you ask us to travel.

The product that then drives the car or van is Trade Plate Vehicle Movements. One roadworthy unit. Valid MOT. Not a transporter.

Who the compound will actually let through

Most BCA, Manheim and Wilsons gates will not hand a lot to a stranger. They want a collector name that matches what the auction has on the account that day. Identification. Trade plates. Sometimes a buyer reference printed against that person.

If you leave your own salesman on the collector line and send OVM, the barrier does not care that you paid. The driver is not that salesman. Tell the site that OVM is collecting. We brief the driver with OVM identification and plates. If the site needs the collector typed onto the release, type us before anyone sets off.

A screenshot of your invoice is not a name. A WhatsApp to the yard manager at 7am is not a name. The office asks the compound what they have on the collector field. Then we dispatch, or we hold.

What happens if you name nobody

The driver sits in the lane. The lot stays. Storage keeps running. You have paid for a morning that moved nothing.

We would rather hold the booking than send someone to fail. That is cheaper than a wasted gate visit plus another night on the yard. Name us first. Then we go.

How to put OVM on the collector line

On the instant quote: registration, compound, both postcodes, date. First line of notes: OVM is the named collector. Send the release details when you have them. Phone 0141 459 1302 if the gate has already asked for a name and you have not given them one.

No account is needed to ask. Most quotes come back within the hour during working hours. Fuel is charged separately. There is no rate card on this page.

If the lot cannot legally be driven, stop. A named collector does not mint an MOT. A transporter is the tool then. We will say so.

An auction compound gate that will not release a lot to an unnamed collector

In practice

Name first, then the lane

Identification and plates at the barrier only work if the compound already has OVM as the collector. Buying the lot does not do that for you.

Questions

Common questions

Prefer to speak to someone? Call the team.

Is buying the lot the same as naming the collector?

No. Buying it puts the lot on your account. Naming the collector tells the gate who may take it. OVM has to be that name before a driver is sent. Instant quote on this page or call 0141 459 1302.

Who should be named if OVM is collecting?

OVM. Tell the site we are collecting. We brief the driver with identification and plates. If the collector field still has your salesman on it, the barrier can turn the driver away.

Does a named collector replace the release code?

No. The code is authority for the lot to leave. The name is who the gate will talk to. You need both. The checklist is auction collection checklist.

What if I only remember to name you when the driver is already in the queue?

Call the office on 0141 459 1302 and we will try the compound. Do not assume the lane will wait. Storage does not pause because you forgot the name.

Got the lot. Has the gate got our name?

Name OVM as collector, then send the registration. Instant quote or 0141 459 1302.
