A part-ex collection is the car still on a customer's drive. Not a compound. Not a dealer roof. Not a sold car going to a buyer. There has to be a named contact who actually has the keys. This is still sitting on a driveway

Stock between your roofs is a site transfer. A sold car to a named buyer is a retail handover. Both live on site transfers and retail handovers. This post is the other direction: you have taken the part-ex in the deal and it is still on their street.

There is no compound gate. There is no duty manager. There is a person who said they would be in, a car on a drive and whatever is in the house that was supposed to travel with it.

The product is still Trade Plate Vehicle Movements. One roadworthy car or van. Driven on plates. Digital proof of collection and delivery provided. Not a transporter.

Named contact, keys in a hand, not in a drawer

Name the person who can actually put the car in our hands. A switchboard at the dealership is not that person. A spouse who might be home is not that person unless they have the keys and know we are coming.

If the customer is out, the job is not a drop the other way. We do not take a car off a drive with nobody there. We do not fish a V5 out of a kitchen drawer. The driver calls the office. The booking waits.

Spare keys, charging cables, service packs: say on the quote what is supposed to leave with the car. Photograph what we were given. What we were not given does not appear later by magic.

Photograph it on the drive before it moves

Part-ex arguments start with a bumper mark the customer swears was not there. The record has to start on their street, not on your prep.

Every panel. Mileage. Notes against that registration. Then the drive to your site. Then the handover to whoever signs at your roof. Both ends go in the digital proof.

If the car is not as described, or is not safe to drive, the driver stops. We do not see how a no-MOT part-ex goes on the public road just because you already allowed it against the deal.

It still has to be legal to drive

Valid MOT. Drivable. Ready for the road. A part-ex that will not start is a transporter job, or it stays until it is legal. Plates do not fix a test that ran out while it sat on their drive.

What if the customer is not in?

The job is not done. We do not take a car off a drive with nobody there. Name a person who will be in and has the keys. If they are out, the driver calls the office.

Do you photograph it on the drive?

Yes, before it moves. Panels, mileage, notes against that registration. That is the proof of collection. The digital proof closes when your site signs.

Does the part-ex still need a valid MOT?

Yes. A trade plate movement still needs a valid MOT and a roadworthy car or van. If it will not drive legally, a transporter is the tool. We will say so.
