Getting around Cardiff: the M4, the A470 and the Bay

Our drivers reach the city from junctions 29 to 33 of the M4. The A470 comes down from Merthyr and the valleys into the centre, the A48 links Newport with Cowbridge and the A4232 loops around the south of the city. Queues at the Brynglas tunnels near Newport often affect Cardiff too, so we agree a realistic collection time rather than promising a same day slot.

St Mary Street, City Road and the streets around the castle are tight, while Leckwith, Wentloog and Ocean Park are gated business areas with their own managers. Cardiff Bay, Cathays, Roath, Canton and Fairwater are all different last stretches, and Penarth, Barry and Caerphilly are separate towns. Queues on the M4 at the tunnels, heavy traffic on the A470 out of the valleys and a Penarth address booked as Cardiff are the usual causes of delay. For a lot at Wilsons Newport the A48 is the run, and release must be confirmed first. A house in Canton should never start with a trip to Wentloog, so put the district on the booking.
