Trade Plate Vehicle Movements in Weymouth
Weymouth sits on the Dorset coast where the A354 drops off the Ridgeway from Dorchester and the harbour opens onto Portland Harbour. DT4 is the town. DT3 is Preston, Littlemoor and Upwey. DT5 is the Isle of Portland, which is a different last mile over the Chesil causeway. From the Glasgow office the run is M74, M6, M5, A303 or A35, then A354. OVM quotes one driven movement. There is no Weymouth office.

The motor trade reason is a harbour town whose independents still have to move stock toward Dorchester, Poole and the rest of the country without waiting for a truck to fill a deck on a single A road into the bay. Auction purchases are not in the town. The honest names on the live sitemap are BCA Westbury and BCA Bridgwater. Fleet vans come off Granby Industrial Estate and Lynch Lane in Chickerell and still need a valid MOT. A retail handover on a terrace off St Thomas Street is a person at a door, not a trailer on the Esplanade.
Weymouth is not Dorchester and it is not Portland. Melcombe Regis, Wyke Regis, a yard toward Chickerell and a customer toward Rodwell are different last miles. A booking that says Weymouth and is actually in Fortuneswell, or actually in Preston, needs the place. The Channel Islands sailing from the harbour is not this product. Anything involving a ferry needs an office conversation before it is booked, the same rule as how OVM covers the UK from Glasgow.

A354, the Ridgeway and two stations
There is no motorway into Weymouth. Junction of the A35 and A354 at Dorchester is how a nationwide job actually reaches the Ridgeway. The A354 is the spine: steep, often slow and closed more often than a map of Dorset suggests. The A353 comes in from Osmington and Preston. None of those is a same day promise.
St Thomas Street, Custom House Quay and the streets behind the beach are tight. A compound on Granby or toward Lynch Lane is a barrier, a named manager and often a Chickerell postcode rather than a DT4 pin. A customer toward Westham or toward Park District needs a place to stop that is legal.
Neighbouring places: Portland, Chickerell, Upwey, Dorchester, Poundbury, Osmington. Collection in Chickerell and delivery in Weymouth is one job. Collection in Weymouth and delivery in Glasgow is nationwide. If the postcode is DT5, write Portland. The causeway is not a Weymouth street.
Weymouth station is the end of the line from Castle Cary and from Southampton. Upwey is a different stop, north of the town, useful when the delivery is Littlemoor rather than the harbour. We plan which one a driver needs after a one way delivery. We do not mix them because both sit in the same bay.
Westbury is the nearest BCA. There is no Dorset auction
There is no BCA, Manheim or Wilsons yard in Weymouth on the live sitemap. BCA Westbury is the honest nearest BCA we will name. BCA Bridgwater is the M5 option if that is where you bought. We will not invent a Dorset auction.
Release is confirmed with Westbury, or whichever site you name, before a driver is sent. The A354 does not open a Westbury gate. Sequence: auction collection after release. If the lot is not roadworthy, stop. Trade plates do not make a non runner legal.
What a harbour dealer is actually booking
A Weymouth independent moving a car to a Dorchester or Poole group roof. A part exchange going to Westbury once it is legal. A customer in Wyke Regis who was promised a driver. A fleet van from Granby. A single unit that cannot wait for a truck filling a deck on the Ridgeway in August. A Portland collection written as Weymouth, which is the job that fails if nobody says DT5.
Site transfer versus customer door: site transfers and retail handovers. Named contacts. A locked unit toward Lynch Lane and a gated flat toward the Esplanade are not the same product, even though both use plates.
Portland is not Weymouth
Ridgeway closures, Esplanade events and a Portland collection written as Weymouth are the usual failures. If the car is at BCA Westbury, the A36 is the run. Release still has to be in before anyone is sent down the A354. If it is a house toward Rodwell, the driver should not be sent to Granby first. Ask for a date you can keep. Put the estate name, the barrier code and the person on the quote. Do not copy a Dorchester 'am' onto a DT4 booking.
Photographs still happen on a Chickerell to Weymouth hop. Coast miles are not a paperwork holiday. Westbury will not hold a car because the Esplanade was closed.
