We plan every Sheffield job from our Glasgow office, down the M74 and the A1 or M1, and quote it as one driven movement. For a planned move, email [email protected]; if a stuck car is already costing you, give us a call.
The M1, the Parkway and Sheffield's hills
Our drivers usually reach the city from junction 33 of the M1 along the A630 Parkway, or from junction 34 through Attercliffe. The A61 runs north to Hillsborough and Barnsley and south to Chesterfield, the A57 crosses the Snake Pass to Manchester and the A6102 forms the inner ring. A closed Parkway at Meadowhall or a match at Bramall Lane or Hillsborough can slow things, so we agree a date you can keep.
Fargate, Division Street and the streets around the Moor are tight, and homes in Crookes, Nether Edge or Walkley need a legal place to stop on a hill. Sites in Attercliffe, Tinsley or on the S9 industrial land usually have barriers and a named manager, and they often sit in a different S district from the one on the booking.
Sheffield station is the main Midland stop, with Dore and Totley to the south west, Darnall to the east and Meadowhall Interchange serving that estate. We plan which station our driver uses after a one way delivery.
Hillsborough, Mosborough and the rest of the S postcodes
Sheffield is a city of many districts, and S1 and S9 are very different places to collect from. Hillsborough, Mosborough and Ecclesall Road each have their own last stretch, Stocksbridge and Chapeltown sit on the edge and Rotherham is a separate town. Give us the exact postcode and district and the driver will not lose time crossing the city.
If the postcode is S18, you want our page on vehicle movements in Dronfield. Collecting at Attercliffe and delivering in Crookes is one job, and collecting in Sheffield and delivering to Glasgow is another.
Auction collections from BCA Leeds, Manheim Leeds and beyond
There is no auction site in Sheffield, so most buyers collect from BCA Leeds or Manheim Leeds, a run up the M1. You can book a BCA Leeds collection after release. BCA Brighouse and BCA Normanton are the other options.
Whichever site you name, we confirm the lot has been released before a driver heads up the motorway. Find out more about auction collection after release. Salvage vehicles cannot travel on trade plates and need a transporter.
Sheffield dealer transfers, part exchanges and Attercliffe fleet vans
City independents and the groups around Attercliffe often send single cars to sites in Leeds or Nottingham. A driven movement gets them on the road straight away rather than waiting for a transporter to fill its deck at a Parkway junction. Part exchanges can go to BCA Leeds once they are legal to drive.
Fleet vans come off Attercliffe, the Parkway units and the S9 land, and each needs a valid MOT. A locked unit in Tinsley and a gated house in Nether Edge are different handovers, and our driver arrives in the vehicle for both. See how we run site transfers and retail handovers.
Parkway queues, a closed Snake Pass or a Hillsborough car booked under S1 are the usual causes of delay. Add the S district, any barrier code and a named contact, and the record is the same on a Mosborough to Crookes hop as on a long run: photos at collection, a signature on delivery and one emailed report.
Booking a Sheffield vehicle movement
Every vehicle must be roadworthy and legal to drive, with a valid MOT where one is required, and keys that start it. Panels and mileage are noted at collection, and our motor trade road risk insurance covers the vehicle until it is signed for. Read about what a driven trade plate movement is and how OVM covers the UK from Glasgow.

Common questions
If your question is not here, call the Glasgow office and we will answer it on the spot.
0141 459 1302Which Sheffield postcodes do you cover?
Every district in and around Sheffield, including S1, S18, S25, S36, S40, S43, S60 and S63. If yours is not on that list it is almost certainly still covered, because we work right across the Yorkshire and the Humber.
Do you cover the areas around Sheffield?
Yes. A driver working Sheffield also covers Dronfield, Rotherham, Stocksbridge, Staveley and Wath upon Dearne. Collection and delivery can be at either end of the same job.
How quickly can you get a driver to Sheffield?
It depends on where the driver is finishing their previous job. Sheffield is served by Darnall, Dore and Totley and Meadowhall Interchange, which is how our drivers travel in for a collection or get home after a one-way delivery. Decent rail access usually means a quicker turnaround.
