Leaving Holy Island on the A55

The A55 is the dual carriageway that carries our drivers off the island and over the Britannia Bridge to the mainland. When it closes, island traffic waits, so we plan around it rather than relying on the old A5 with ferry traffic behind.

Trearddur Bay, Valley, Caergeiliog, Llangefni and Amlwch are all on the island but are not Holyhead, and Bangor is just across the strait. Collecting in Valley and delivering in Holyhead is one job, and so is collecting in Holyhead and delivering to Glasgow.

Holyhead station sits right beside the ferries at the end of the North Wales Coast Line, which gives our driver a straightforward way home after a one way delivery.

Auction collections from Wilsons Auctions Deeside and BCA Whitchurch

There is no auction on Anglesey, so island buyers usually collect from Wilsons Auctions Deeside or BCA Whitchurch in Shropshire. Both are a long run along the A55 and A494 rather than a local hop, and Wilsons Auctions Telford is further still.

We confirm the release with Deeside, Whitchurch or whichever site you used before anyone is sent, so the drive east is never wasted. Details of how a Deeside or Whitchurch pickup works are on our auction collection after release page. Salvage lots are not something we can drive back to the island on trade plates.

Port vans and dealer stock across Anglesey

Independents in Holyhead, Llangefni and around the island regularly send stock to group sites in Bangor, Chester and across England, and part exchanges go to Deeside once they are legal. Fleet vans come off units at the port, each with a valid MOT.

The ferry estate, a customer in Kingsland and a yard towards Penrhos each need their own directions. For a port collection, add the name of the person who can open the barrier. Planning around the Britannia Bridge and the ferries

Closures on the Britannia Bridge, ferry traffic at the port and a Valley collection booked under Holyhead are the usual hold ups. Choose a date you can keep, and if the car is at Wilsons Deeside, make sure release is in before we send anyone onto the island.

Short island hops are recorded just as carefully as long runs, with condition and photos at collection, a signature at the far end and one report by email.
