Trade Plate Vehicle Movements in Canterbury
Canterbury sits on the Stour in Kent, CT1 in the walls and CT2 across the wider city, with the A2 as the London road, the A28 as the Ashford and Margate road and a medieval core you do not send a trailer into. From the Glasgow office the run is M74, M6, M1 or M25, then M2 and A2. OVM quotes one driven movement. There is no Canterbury office. A cathedral city is still a nationwide postcode.

The motor trade reason is an east Kent town whose independents still have to move stock toward Maidstone, London and the rest of the country without waiting for a truck to fill a deck on a single A2 cutting. Auction purchases are not in the city. The honest names on the live sitemap are Wilsons Auctions Maidstone and BCA Paddock Wood. BCA Crawley sits if that is where you bought. Fleet vans come off Wincheap, Hersden and Broad Oak units and still need a valid MOT. A retail handover on a terrace off St Dunstan's is a person at a door, not a trailer on Burgate.
Canterbury is not Whitstable and it is not Herne Bay. Wincheap, Hales Place, a yard toward Hersden and a customer toward St Stephen's are different last miles. A booking that says Canterbury and is actually in Whitstable, or actually in Chartham, needs the place. Ashford already has its own page if that is the other postcode.
Same booking as anywhere else. Canterbury is not a special product.
A2, A28, East and West
The A2 is the spine, London one way, Dover the other. Junction of the M2 and A2 at Faversham is how a nationwide job actually reaches the city without sitting in every village. The A28 is Ashford one way, the coast the other. The A257 is the Sandwich road. None of those is a same day promise. A closed Ring Road and a pilgrims' weekend in the walls are Kent facts.
Burgate, St Peter's Street and the streets inside the walls are tight. A compound toward Wincheap, Hersden or Broad Oak is a barrier instruction. A customer toward St Dunstan's or toward Barton needs a place to stop that is legal. Do not send a Wincheap collection to the Buttermarket first.
Neighbouring places: Whitstable, Herne Bay, Chartham, Sturry, Faversham, Ashford. Collection in Wincheap and delivery in CT1 is one job. Collection in Canterbury and delivery in Glasgow is nationwide. If the postcode is actually Ashford, that page already exists.
Canterbury West is the High Speed and Ashford line. Canterbury East is a different station on the Faversham to Dover line, useful when the delivery is toward Wincheap rather than St Dunstan's. We plan which one a driver needs after a one way delivery. We do not mix East and West because both say Canterbury.
Maidstone and Paddock Wood, not a cathedral yard
There is no BCA, Manheim or Wilsons yard in Canterbury on the live sitemap. Wilsons Auctions Maidstone is the honest nearest Wilsons. BCA Paddock Wood is the honest nearest BCA. BCA Crawley sits west if that is where you bought. We will not invent a Canterbury auction.
Release is confirmed with Maidstone, or Paddock Wood, or whichever site you name, before a driver is sent. The A2 does not open a Maidstone gate. auction collection after release. Salvage off plates.
What an east Kent dealer is actually booking
A Canterbury independent moving a car to a Maidstone or London group roof. A part exchange going to Paddock Wood once it is legal. A customer in St Dunstan's who was promised a driver. A fleet van from Wincheap. A single unit that cannot wait for a truck filling a deck on the A2. A Whitstable collection written as Canterbury, which is a different CT5 town.
Site transfer versus customer door: site transfers and retail handovers. Named contacts. A locked unit toward Hersden and a gated house toward the precinct are not the same product, even though both use plates.
The Ring Road, the walls and a Whitstable mix-up
A2 closures, a closed Ring Road and a Herne Bay collection written as Canterbury are the usual failures. If the car is at Wilsons Maidstone, the M2 is the run and release still has to be in before anyone is sent into the walls. If it is a house toward Hales Place, the driver should not be sent to Wincheap first. Ask for a date you can keep. Put the estate name, the barrier code and the person on the quote. Do not copy a Maidstone 'am' onto a CT1 booking.
Photographs still happen on a Sturry to Canterbury hop. Stour miles are not a paperwork holiday. Maidstone will not hold a car because Burgate was closed.
The A2 does not replace an MOT
Light commercial vans in if they are legal. Rigids out. Digital proof either way.
Valid MOT. It has to drive. Light vans yes. HGVs no. Plates do not mint a test in Canterbury.

Every district in and around Canterbury, including CT1, CT5 and CT6. If yours is not on that list it is almost certainly still covered, because we work right across Kent.
Do you cover the areas around Canterbury?
Yes. A driver working Canterbury also covers Whitstable, Herne Bay, Faversham, Ashford and Folkestone. Collection and delivery can be at either end of the same job.
How quickly can you get a driver to Canterbury?
It depends on where the driver is finishing their previous job. Canterbury is served by Bekesbourne, Canterbury East and Canterbury West, which is how our drivers travel in for a collection or get home after a one-way delivery. Decent rail access usually means a quicker turnaround.
