Mid Cornwall stock still has to reach buyers in Truro, Plymouth and well beyond, and we make that simple. Every job is planned from our Glasgow office as one driven movement between two postcodes, with the A390 through town and the A391 up to the A30 as the roads we know best here.
Clay country roads: the A391, the A390 and the A30
Most of our drives reach St Austell by leaving the A30 at Innis Downs and coming down the A391. The A390 runs through the town between Truro and Liskeard, the A3058 heads towards Newquay and the A3082 runs from Par to Fowey. Clay lorries are a fact of life on the A391, so we agree a collection time you can rely on rather than promising a same day slot.
Fore Street and the roads down to the station are steep. Units at Trewhiddle and Holmbush usually have a barrier and a site contact, while a delivery near Charlestown harbour or up in Carclaze often means a steep last street and somewhere legal to stop.
St Blazey, Par, Mevagissey, Charlestown, Pentewan and St Dennis all have their own last stretch, so book the village rather than just St Austell. After a one way delivery our driver can head home from St Austell station on the Cornish main line, or from Par if that is nearer.
Auction collections from Manheim Saltash and BCA Bridgwater
There is no auction site in St Austell, so most local buyers collect from Manheim Saltash and drive back along the A38 once the lot is released. If you bought further up country, BCA Bridgwater is the nearest BCA, back along the A30 and the M5.
We confirm release with the auction before a driver sets off, so the trip over the Tamar is never wasted. Our guide to auction collection after release sets out how a Saltash lot comes home. Salvage lots are a job for a transporter, as they cannot be driven on our plates.
Moving stock for St Austell and St Blazey dealers
Independents in St Austell, St Blazey and Mevagissey regularly send cars to group sites in Truro or Plymouth, or part exchanges to Saltash once they are legal to drive. Fleet vans come off the units at Trewhiddle, along Pentewan Road and around the clay works, and each needs a valid MOT before we collect.
If you have promised a buyer in Carclaze or just off Fore Street that their car will be delivered to the door, our driver brings it in person. There is no trailer stuck on the A390 and no wait behind a clay lorry. You can read how site transfers and retail handovers work for Cornish dealers.
A harbour street in Charlestown and an estate at Holmbush need different instructions, so add a named contact and any access details to the booking.
Par, Charlestown or St Austell: getting the address right
The usual causes of delay are closures on the A391, slow clay traffic and a Par collection booked as St Austell. Tell us exactly where the car is, whether that is a house near Pentewan or a unit at Holmbush, and the driver goes there first.
Choose a day that works for you and we will plan the drive through clay country around it. A short run from St Blazey into town is recorded as carefully as a long one, with photos and condition notes at collection, a signature at the far end and one report by email.
Booking a PL25 movement with OVM
Any car or light van leaving PL25 must be roadworthy and legal to drive, with a valid MOT where one is required. Rigid lorries and HGVs are outside what we move. Condition is recorded before the vehicle moves, and our motor trade road risk insurance covers it until it is signed for. There is more on what a driven trade plate vehicle movement is and how OVM covers the UK from Glasgow elsewhere on the site.
Getting a price works the same from St Austell as anywhere else: enter the registration, both postcodes and your dates for an instant quote. OVM is the trading name of OVM Ltd, registered in Scotland as SC834621, and you can reach us on 0141 459 1302.

Common questions
If your question is not here, call the Glasgow office and we will answer it on the spot.
0141 459 1302Which St Austell postcodes do you cover?
Every district in and around St Austell, including PL22, PL23, PL25 and PL31. If yours is not on that list it is almost certainly still covered, because we work right across Cornwall.
Do you cover the areas around St Austell?
Yes. A driver working St Austell also covers Fowey, Lostwithiel, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Truro. Collection and delivery can be at either end of the same job.
How quickly can you get a driver to St Austell?
It depends on where the driver is finishing their previous job. St Austell is served by Bugle, Luxulyan and Par, which is how our drivers travel in for a collection or get home after a one-way delivery. Decent rail access usually means a quicker turnaround.
