## Book this when the unit can leave today as a car

Do not book it because the phrase is familiar. Do not book it for salvage. Do not book it because a transporter quote felt slow and you want us to see how we get on. If it cannot legally be driven, it is not this product.

The long decision article, with the side-by-side against a loaded truck, stays on [when a trade plate driver beats a transporter](https://ovmtransport.com/trade-plate-delivery-vs-transporter). This URL is the commercial product page: when to buy this, when to walk away.

Dealer stock between sites. A retail handover. An auction lot once it is released. A fleet unit that still starts and still has an MOT. A trade sale that has to arrive as described.

Those are this product. The people who buy it are the motor trade: dealers, dealer groups, auction buyers, fleets, lease and remarketing, trade sellers. Who those buyers are, in the round, is on the [trade plate movements homepage](https://ovmtransport.com/).

- there is one car or van, or a handful you are willing to book as separate driven jobs
- each vehicle has a valid MOT and is drivable
- you need it to go from a real address to a real address, not via a depot
- waiting for a truck to fill would cost you time, storage, or a customer
- you need a condition record because someone else will argue later

## Do not book this when the vehicle is the cargo

A transporter is the right product when the vehicle cannot legally be driven, or when you have enough units going the same way on a flexible date that a loaded deck is the honest tool.

No MOT. Non-runner. Salvage. Write-off that cannot go on the public road. A line of cars that are not urgent and are heading the same way. That is not a plates job with extra care. It is a different method.

We will say so. We would rather refuse than send a driver to a car that will not start, or to a compound that will not release it onto the road.

If you are still weighing the two methods, read the comparison guide. This page will not repeat that table. It will only tell you what you are buying if you stay here.

## The product you are buying, in one pass

A driver we have put on the job, not a marketplace listing. Booking, tracking and close in software we run. Trade plates on a roadworthy car or van. Road risk on the movement. Photographs, mileage and a signature. Digital proof when the job closes.

Fuel is charged separately. There is no rate card here. Distance, vehicle, timing and what has to happen at each end change the figure. Auction gates and retail walkarounds are not priced as if they were a key-swap on a dealer compound.

The operational meaning of driven rather than loaded is on [what a driven trade plate vehicle movement actually is](https://ovmtransport.com/vehicle-movements). The proof walk-through is on [vehicle collection and delivery with POC and POD](https://ovmtransport.com/vehicle-collection-delivery). Auction-specific release and storage is on [auction collection after release](https://ovmtransport.com/auction-collection). Dealer-specific site versus door is on [site transfers and retail handovers](https://ovmtransport.com/dealer-delivery).

Use those pages. Do not mash them into this one.

## Trade plate deliveries for cars and vans

Trade plate delivery is the same product as trade plate vehicle movements. A driver, trade plates, a legal car or van, two postcodes. Dealers use it for auction collection, dealer-to-dealer and retail handover when the unit can leave as a car. Not for salvage. Not for units with no MOT.

The operational page is [what a driven trade plate vehicle movement actually is](https://ovmtransport.com/vehicle-movements). Cost of the driven job: [what trade plate delivery costs](https://ovmtransport.com/trade-plate-delivery-cost-uk). Auction lots after release: [auction collection after release](https://ovmtransport.com/auction-collection).

## What right move does not depend on

It does not depend on a town being listed. Coverage is nationwide from the Glasgow office, as a postcode pair.

It does not depend on you having an account. Quote with the registration and both postcodes.

It does not depend on us pretending to be a transporter on Fridays. We are not a transporter on any day.

It does depend on the vehicle being legal to drive. Release has to be real where a third party holds the keys. A person at each end has to know we are coming.

## How to book, or how to stop

If this is the right product, use the instant quote on this page. Date required, name, company, phone, email. Most quotes come back within the hour during working hours. The office is in Glasgow.

If this is not the right product, call 0141 459 1302 and say so. We will tell you to use a transporter rather than take a booking we cannot complete.

Email info@ovmtransport.com for planned, non-urgent work. Use the phone if the car is already costing you storage or a customer is waiting.

[Instant quote for a driven movement](https://ovmtransport.com/)[Send registration and both postcodes](https://ovmtransport.com/contact)

## Site transfer or a customer door

This product covers both. They are not the same booking.

Stock between your roofs is a site transfer. A named buyer at a house is a retail handover. Put which on the quote. The dealer page is [site transfers and retail handovers](https://ovmtransport.com/dealer-delivery).

## After the compound releases it

An auction lot is this product only after the site confirms release.

A hammer price is not collection authority. [auction collection after release](https://ovmtransport.com/auction-collection) is the compound version of this buy.

## Valid MOT is the line

Trade plate vehicle delivery needs a valid MOT. No test, no driven job.

Same rule for a dealer hop as for a Nationwide run. Salvage stays on a truck.

## One car or one van

The usual booking is one registration. A van is still one unit if it is legal to drive.

Height and weight belong on the quote. A high-roof is not a large car. Rigids are out.

## When the transporter is the product

Book a transporter when the vehicle cannot legally be driven, or when several units travel as one load on a flexible date.

This URL is the driven buy. The long choice is [when a trade plate driver beats a transporter](https://ovmtransport.com/trade-plate-delivery-vs-transporter).

 Instant Quote0141 459 1302

When is a trade plate driver the right product?

When you have one roadworthy car or van with a valid MOT. You need it driven rather than waiting for a truck to fill. If it cannot be driven, this is the wrong product.

When should I book a transporter instead?

Non-runner, salvage, no MOT, several units the same way, or a vehicle a driver cannot legally take. OVM will say that. We will not pretend to be a low-loader. The long version is trade plate delivery versus a transporter.

Is this page the same as the versus transporter guide?

No. This is the commercial product page. The versus transporter page is the long decision. Use this URL to buy the driven move; use the decision page to choose the method.

Do I need my own trade plates for this product?

No. OVM supplies the plates. You supply a roadworthy vehicle, both postcodes and a person at each end.

Does same day change the product, or only the diary?

Same product: one roadworthy car or van, driven on trade plates. Same day is quoted as the actual job, not from a rate card. Only if the vehicle is legal to drive. If it is at auction, already released. Planned work is a different diary. What shapes the figure is on what actually sets a trade plate delivery price.

What is trade plate vehicle delivery?

A driver collects a roadworthy car or van on trade plates and delivers it. Same as a vehicle movement. Instant quote from the two postcodes. Digital proof of collection and delivery provided. Not salvage. Not a unit without a valid MOT.

### What trade plate delivery costs and how the quote is built

OVM does not publish a rate card for trade plate delivery. The quote is the driven job: distance on the actual route, the vehicle, wait or release at collection and whether it is same-day or planned. There are no made-up pound figures on this page. Two postcodes start it. Instant quote on this page or call 0141 459 1302.

### How long trade plate delivery takes

A trade plate delivery is usually next working day Nationwide once the car or van is ready and the release is done. Same day is possible on shorter runs if a driver can reach an open gate. The clock starts when the unit can leave, not when the quote is sent. Quote on this page or call 0141 459 1302.

### Is trade plate delivery insured?

Yes. Trade plate delivery with OVM is insured: motor trade road risk while the vehicle is driven on our plates. Condition is photographed before it moves. You do not add our driver to your own policy. Instant quote on this page or call 0141 459 1302.

### When a trade plate driver beats a transporter. When it does not

Trade plate delivery beats a transporter when the car or van is roadworthy with a valid MOT and needs to leave now, not wait for a deck. A transporter is a loaded truck. Use plates when the unit is legal to drive and has to leave without waiting for a deck. Use a truck when it cannot be driven or several units travel as one load. Quote here or call 0141 459 1302.
