Jump to the form ## A driver, plates and a roadworthy vehicle A trade plate driver collects the car or van from where it sits, drives it on OVM trade plates and hands it over at the delivery address. One person has the vehicle from end to end. There is no depot stop and no wait for a lorry to fill a deck. OVM only takes the job if the vehicle is legal to drive: valid MOT, drivable, ready for the road. Dealers, auction buyers and fleets use this when they need a single vehicle moved between two postcodes. That is the whole product. We are not a transporter firm with a sideline in driven work. If the vehicle cannot legally be driven, we will tell you a transporter is the right tool. Height, weight and fuel are checked before a van is quoted. ### Trade plates are ours The driver carries OVM plates, insurance and identification. You do not need to supply any of that. What it is not Dealers book site transfers and retail handovers. Auction buyers book collection once the release is confirmed. Fleets book lease returns and de-fleets of vehicles that still drive. The quote form on this page is the same for all of them: registration, both postcodes, date required. It is not salvage collection. It is not a non-runner. It is not a loaded low-loader. Those jobs need a truck, not a driver on plates. At delivery the same record is taken again and the person receiving it signs on the device. You get digital proof of collection and delivery provided together. That digital proof is how the office and the customer close the job. It is not an extra. It is on every movement. One driver, one set of photographs, one signature. How it runs ## What actually happens Four steps. Most of them are ours rather than yours. - 01 ### Send the registration and both postcodes Plus the date you need it moved. That is usually enough to quote. - 02 ### We confirm the vehicle can be driven Valid MOT, drivable, legal for the road. If it is not, we stop there. - 03 ### A driver collects on trade plates Photographs, mileage and condition recorded before the wheels turn. - 04 ### Handover and the proof Signature at delivery. The vehicle still needs a valid MOT and has to be drivable. [GOV.UK trade licence rules](https://www.gov.uk/trade-licence-plates/rules) only allow plates on vehicles that are roadworthy, insured and have a valid MOT or are exempt. OVM still only takes the ones with a valid MOT. Can a private household book a trade plate delivery? No. This is motor-trade work: dealers, auction buyers, fleets and leasing companies. A household man-and-van is not what the office quotes.
